⏳ Manage Willpower More Than Time

30-Day Writing Challenge: 17/30

People who try to be productive focus on time management. But there are occasions when there is plenty of time, but you just don’t have the energy to do the task. Maybe, more than time management, it’s about energy or willpower management. It is often overlooked.

Based on a quick search: willpower is defined as “the ability to resist short-term temptations in order to meet long-term goals.” -American Psychological Association

It is said that each of us has a limited willpower per day. It is replenished partially by eating (and possibly other things) and fully by a full night’s sleep.

Connecting to yesterday’s topic, ideally we shouldn’t have to spend willpower to do beneficial things. It should be a automatic habit. (Look into Atomic Habits)

I guess, for most people, brushing teeth in the morning doesn’t require willpower, but brushing at night does.

That’s how a properly designed system, with well-rewarded habits overrides the need for willpower.

Also, willpower is said to be like a muscle. You can train it by putting increasing pressure on it over a long term.
